2021 ACEL Cross Country Meet
Host Application
Thank you for your interest in hosting a ACEL Cross Country meet this year. Meet hosts provide an invaluable service to their fellow ACEL members but please be aware that hosting a cross country meet requires the host to invest many hours of work before, during and after the event. Many ACEL members must learn to host cross country meets if cross country is to flourish as an ACEL sanctioned sport in the years to come.
The purpose of this first year of ACEL Cross Country is to not only establish if there is enough interest among ACEL athletes to sustain cross country but, just as importantly, to give our member organizations the opportunity to practice running meets. In order for cross country to be a fully sanctioned ACEL sport with a state championship, there must be enough athletes interested AND enough ACEL organizations willing and able to host meets during the regular season.
ACEL “regular season” Cross Country Meets
The host of a regular season cross country meet will be responsible for all aspects of the meet. The ACEL recommends that courses which are free of charge be used and timing be done by hand instead of hiring a timer. Hosts may charge gate fees per ACEL guidelines and reasonable registration fees of athletes. Hosts are responsible for all costs associated with the meet. Hosts may retain any profit made from the meet.
At the conclusion of the meet, the host must report the following information to the ACEL:
